Also, I wanted to thank you for this site. I was one of those people who couldn't get their Windows to recognize the Zen, so i trouble shot and was completely satisfied. Thanks again.

Ah, Finally fixed it ran clean up several times rebooting each time now lists in the creative software WMP10. All I can think of is maybe the drive became so fragmented.
Thanks for the input and Great site!

if you have the latest firmware, it shd work in wmp11 but wmp11 is a beta version and many people have connectivity prob with it so we always advise them to use wmp10 instead, its more stable.
anyway glad yours is working in wmp11  Cheesy

MZC tells me I don't have SP2 installed
I've also read that I need to uninstall it and re-install it.
fine!
but I've got three (3) versions of SP2 aboard

MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB925672)
MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB927978)
MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB936181)

should I uninstall all three?

then download the latest SP2 again from Microsoft?

Lots of good info in this forum for dealing with connectivity issues, but Geesh, why doesn't Creative take a lesson from SanDisk and countless other Thumb-drive manufacturers and just have the Zen show up as a new disc drive?  We users would be a LOT happier if we did not have to go through all this crap to connect to our players -- after all, we shun iPODS because of all the proprietary garbage that comes with iTUNES.

It would be a lot more cost effective for Creative to write a few error handling routines into the player to recognize if a user tries to play an un-playable file that was copied to player memory.  Let the users who actually want WMP integration deal with all this garbage, but us straight up drive access to player memory so we can use it with any PC instantly without all the proprietary software, set-up, and connection problems.

This simple approach works well for iRiver players, making them much easier to deal with unless you happen to have exactly the right configuration of PC and Software to work with the Zen software.  I just don't get why Creative chooses to take on this extreme support burden when it does not have to.  (oh yeah - forgot that THEY charge for support and depend on forums like this to support users)

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
