I am a new member to the site and i am hoping someone can help me with this paperweight called Sleek Photo.

One day i turned on the unit and it played fine. I turned it off and sat it down for a little while. Later on i tried to start it up and it was in recovery mode.

I had been using XP SP2 and everything worked great. Recently on my second computer with Vista Home Prem i added a few mp3's and it still worked fine. It was within a day or so after the sync with WMP11 and Vista it has killed my MP3 player.
I have downloaded the firmware, cleaned up, formatted, and attempted to reload firmware. At first it wouldnt recognize it on XP or Vista. I read around the net and saw that a program that was posted on the Dell website would fix this.
(FIXIT)??
After i used that the firmware could find the unit on XP. I proceeded to upgrade firmware and when it got almost finished it said firmware upgrade failed!!
Now this unit is stuck in Recovery Mode even with doing a hard reset and holding down the play/pause button on restart.
Can anyone offer any suggestions?
Thanks
Jessie

1) Do a restart and format of your sleek, see if it will get you out of recovery mode
2) use your working Win XP to update your firmware instead
3) i suggest you uninstall WMP11 and install WMP10 in your Vista

While updating your player's firmware, you may be informed that an application is preventing the firmware update. Should this occur,
Start Creative MediaSource.
On the menu bar, click Tools -> Settings.
Click the Detector tab.
Click the Enable Detector checkbox to uncheck it.
Restart your computer.
Try updating the firmware again.

Have you tried this?

i saw these important notes, see if it helps:
IMPORTANT:

This firmware update is only for Creative Zen Sleek players that are used with Windows XP Service Pack 1 or 2 (SP1 or SP2) and Windows Media Player 10.
Be sure to back up all the audio and data files on your Zen Sleek before installing this firmware update as all content will be lost when you install the new firmware. After installing the PlaysForSure firmware, use Windows Media Player 10 to restore audio and/or data files to your player.
Software updates are required if you want to use any currently installed applications like Creative MediaSourceā„¢, Zen Media Explorer, or other track management tools with your player after installing this firmware.
Installation of this firmware may take up to five minutes, and your device may restart a number of times during installation.
Do not disconnect the USB cable from your player or computer during installation.
Be sure to fully charge your player before updating the firmware.

Yeah, I tried doing the restart and formatting the hard drive and only trying to update via XP.
I have tried it on 2 different XP computers. 1 with Media Player 10 and one with all Media Players unistalled. Both XP computers do not have Creative Media Source installed on them. It will attempt to update but when it gets to the end it fails with no reason.
I can hear the hard drive spinning when i do the format. Each of the options in the recovery mode i must do the hard reset with the play/pause button held. I cant do one and then go to the next. I have to do the hard reset with each one to get a response out of. One last thing.. If i am dumping the firmware in the recovery mode, i shouldnt have any firmware installed when i attempt to reload right?
No matter how many times i do the reload firmare the upgrade tells me i have it installed.
Does this help any? Or do i have a brick?
Thanks

nothing has changed...
this unit must be bricked. i appreciate your help...
funny thing is i emailed creative for help
and they said it was out of warranty and it would be at least $224.00 to replace and possibly more depending on extent of problem once they repaired it. I only paid approx $160 brand new at walmart.
They gave me another option and that was to buy another one of there wonderful products.
Dont think i wanna go over to the dark side to Ipod.. Creative has left a bad taste in my mouth with this problem...
Sleek Photo sounded great and worked wonderfully when it was up and running...
Can anyone recommend another great MP3 player?
Something with alot of storage and the ability to dock and have the accessories like you would see with IPOD?
Thanks again and very helpful website.!!!
