hn...maybe. Im not sure a lot of those people even checks those topics or even realize they appear there. They go directly for help. If anything i think they'd feel more welcomed in their registration emails. But honestly i feel it creates clutter when i'm searching for topics where there is 0 replies to it and the person needs help. The hello/hey/welcome topics get looked at maybe once...but that's about as much as i ever see.
