Ah, Finally fixed it ran clean up several times rebooting each time now lists in the creative software WMP10. All I can think of is maybe the drive became so fragmented.

anyone having crackling and popping noise with 4 gb of ram.i have a asus sli 32 deluxe motherboard with a xfi fatality sound card.

yes, did you disable your onboard sound?
try another PCI slot
if the problem still persists, it could be a faulty card
