Also, I wanted to thank you for this site. I was one of those people who couldn't get their Windows to recognize the Zen, so i trouble shot and was completely satisfied. Thanks again.

Ah, Finally fixed it ran clean up several times rebooting each time now lists in the creative software WMP10. All I can think of is maybe the drive became so fragmented.
Thanks for the input and Great site!

Been a while since we had a Firmware upgrade. I hope Creative haven't parked software development for the X-Fi2.
If nothing else, they absolutely need to do something about the volume slider. After 4 months with the device, I still end up stabbing around to get the volume I want. Quite frankly, this control is the worst bit of user interface design I have yet come across. Creative need to replace it with an entirely different control and put it on top so the whole operation takes a couple of seconds.
There are other concerns peppered throughout this forum that should also be addressed, so I won't repeat them here.
I'm otherwise happy with the player, but cannot recommend it to friends without pointing out the annoying interface. Sad

hi wallry
the last news about zen x-fi2 was the release of adk for developers meaning developers can develop games and applications for x-fi2
lately, creative is not only quiet about creative x-fi2, they are also very quiet in terms of launching of new products. not heard anything from them

Quiet - oh, dear. I hope all is well at Creative. I still think the sound is topnotch, and the X-Fi feature really brings my music to life. Not to mention that these players are great value. With just a little more effort, they could really make the X-Fi2 exceptional.
I don't suppose the adk developers can tinker with the main interface?

I think creative abandon's their mp3 players a little too early sometimes. I know of only 1 or 2 for the original zen x-fi and I think 2 for x-fi2. Then they just go dead for awhile. They should keep up with this stuff..I wonder why they can't sometimes...::ponders::

Here we go - signs of life over at the Firmware download page. Wasn't going to bother, then noticed "Ensures a correct display of your music/audio tags", so I guess that's worth having.
Anyway, thanks for the upgrade Creative. Now please go fix the darn volu ... hang on, don't want to sound like a stuck record. Grin

Maybe I should look into seeing if there is one for the original X-Fi. Somehow though I doubt they are doing a thing about it >_>...

It'd be awesome if we could just make our own custom firmwares...

Creative Centrale has got to be the worst interface I have ever used.  I was making a few minor tweaks to a group of songs that had not tags.....I thought I was editing just that group.  It re-tagged 1/2 of my 3400 songs before realized what was going on.

I almost tossed the mp3 player against the wall.  Hours of reconstruction later, I am still not finished fixing them @#%^ tags.

Anyone got a better interface?

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
