Also, I wanted to thank you for this site. I was one of those people who couldn't get their Windows to recognize the Zen, so i trouble shot and was completely satisfied. Thanks again.

Ah, Finally fixed it ran clean up several times rebooting each time now lists in the creative software WMP10. All I can think of is maybe the drive became so fragmented.
Thanks for the input and Great site!

Hi i have looked through lots of threads and the FAQ section but cant seem to sort this problem out, i got given a creative zen 4gb which hadent been used for a while so i plugged it in to my pc via usb port. It charged up fine and my pc recoginzed it so i downloaded and installed latest filmware then work fine so uploaded mp3s, then my bro decided to unplug it which i have done with out remove the hardware safely option before, i then pluged it back in and now my pc comes up with "Device Not Recognized" and in the device manager its saying unknown device.

My sympathy to you. I have an almost identical problem with my Zen player. I've gone right through removing and reinstalling zen explorer and software several times. Updated windows, tried different usb ports, leads, reset player and other devices. Works fine on my laptop, recognises it as a media storage device (also updated firmware), but connect to my computer and exactly the same senario.
Is it possible just to get it recognised as a detachable drive? That way I could at least access the music!

have you tried the fixup file in myzenchecker?
have you tried the 'clean up' or 'format' in recovery mode?
note: format will erase all your content

I had a similar problem ("Device Not Recognized"), and strangely enough
it turned out to be a cable issue.  I was using one of those retractable
USB cables, and when I switched to a standard cable the problem was solved.

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
