Also, I wanted to thank you for this site. I was one of those people who couldn't get their Windows to recognize the Zen, so i trouble shot and was completely satisfied. Thanks again.

Ah, Finally fixed it ran clean up several times rebooting each time now lists in the creative software WMP10. All I can think of is maybe the drive became so fragmented.
Thanks for the input and Great site!

Hum...you'd think with a further firmware this would work. But now it seems with a newer one it's not working now? that's weird.  Did you just recently update it?

Hei! Me again.. Wink

So after about 8 weeks I got a new Zen MX as the techs could reproduce the playlist error. Obviously my new one has the exact same problem as described before. Obviously I started with updating the firmware to the lates on the Zen website (1.02).

When using WinAmp, MediaMonkey and Windows Media Player I still have the same issue. The playlist is there, but contains no songs.

My question therefore is: is there someone that has used one of the above programs (pref. not windows media player) and got it to work? If so, which firmware do you use? And did you do anything special to make it work (manually relocated files, renamed files etc.).

I decide to keep the Zen for now, as I do like it and I expect that this can and should be resolved with a firmware update. I'll keep on emailing zensupport untill I get more info and untill then just only play per artist/album/genre. It sucks, but it's survivable Wink

Again, thank you so much!

I usually make my playlists from the zen itself. But if were to make a Zen specific playlist i'd probably use media source or creative centrale.

Creative centrale is no option as it does not allow me to import playlists and it is a slightly, uhm, crappy program Smiley. But media source I've not heared about. Does that allow playlist imports?

media source is another Creative program that came with Zen Vision: M. I've been able to make playlists with it and then port it over to the ZVM itself.

I had got the same problem. After upgrading to 1.02.04, here's the solution :

After installing this firmware, it is recommended that you clean up your player's memory.

   1. Turn off your player.
   2. Press and hold the Play/Pause button.
   3. When the Creative logo appears, press and hold the Back button until the Recovery Mode screen appears.
   4. Select Clean Up.

   5. When the clean up is complete, select Reboot.

cordialement,
A.

Sorry, I don't want to spoil the show, but has anyone compared (working) playlists created by Central or MX itself to the (broken) ones created by MM or WinAMP, yet?

Simply solution: ZEN MX only works with crippled DOS 8.3 path/filenames. Well at first I couldn't believe it, too. A >100€ player launched in '08/'09 not able to deal with long filenames  Angry

For a solution see "mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=44192"

Of course the best solution would be a new firmware

I'm having the same issue, upgrading firmware won't work, I looked at the 'media monkey' solution but I really don't understand it...
I really don't get the point why Creative isn't helping out, it's quite an error!
I also understand that some people don't have the problem, how's that possible?

It's quite an extensive fix and it can be quite complicated if you lose yourself in the instructions. But that's why we're here to help ^_^.

So what of the instructions is giving you trouble the most?

First of all: Do you need anything special for it? A special program, like media-monkey or java-script etc. xD.
Because they're talking about javascript and stuff, do I need to download that or something? Maybe it's because I'm Dutch, I'm sorry, haha.

the media-monkey is another solution suggested by our contributor. for the main thing, try to upgrade your firmware to the latest version. that should do it

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
