Also, I wanted to thank you for this site. I was one of those people who couldn't get their Windows to recognize the Zen, so i trouble shot and was completely satisfied. Thanks again.

Ah, Finally fixed it ran clean up several times rebooting each time now lists in the creative software WMP10. All I can think of is maybe the drive became so fragmented.
Thanks for the input and Great site!

My Zen MX is giving me a default setting stating that "Media is not formatted with a supported file system".  I tried the recovery tool and it did not work.  All of my songs were deleted from the playlist and I am unable to load more music because of the message I receive above

Please help

the media-monkey is another solution suggested by our contributor. for the main thing, try to upgrade your firmware to the latest version. that should do it

EDIT: got it to work, but with different firmware than the one mentioned earlier in the topic. as I'm not registered, I can't post links...
here it is, just take out the enters:

O, and Blouis: do you use Creative Central? Maybe it works when you use that.

ok, I registered for you Wink haha
after I upgraded my creative zen tot firmware 1.02.04 my playlist still work excellent, this is a newer version than mentioned earlier in this topic, which didn't work for me, so I suggest, after some others confirmed it to work, to put this in the first message of the topic, here is the link to download it, if it won't work (don't know why, but it's possible), just search on 1.02.04 firmware creative zen MX on google:

for me, yes.
I didn't do anything else to it, only upgraded it to it and now it works.
It also says in the description that it solves the 'long-name' problem, that's the problem that's occurring here
hope it helps

Please, can anyone clarify here? I use 1.02.04 fw version downloaded from the Creative HP. I *have* the playlist problems mentioned in this thread, as many others have also! But there seem to be some solving the problem with a fw update.

Does there exist *another* newer 1.02.04 version Huh I cannot believe the download above differs in any way from the original Creative one.

Of course as long as the LONG and SHORT version of your file/path names in your PL DO NOT differ, your PL will do fine with the MX:

LONG: C:\U2\ONE.mp3
SHORT: C:\U2\ONE.mp3

will do, but:

LONG: C:\A_VERY_LONG_GROUP_NAME\WITH_A_LONG_TITLE.mp3
SHORT: C:\A_VERY~1\WITH_A~1.mp3 (may differ)

WILL NOT!

Sorry, we are talking about firmware updates in this thread for some time now, but I think there is a lot of missinformation and nobody has a clue, really! I haven't seen any firmware yet fixing the problem and I believe this is really BAD customer support from Creative!!!

By the way: My fix mentioned above is for integration with MediaMonkey only, but it could be build as a stand alone solution, very simple! You should have at least a little knowledge about MM module concept. Copy the script into C:\<programms>\MediaMonkey\Plugins and simply follow the instructions written in the header. You don't need a JScript install as it is already installed in your system. Have a lock at:

To transfer files to Zen MX, I use MediaMonkey.
For playlists I use the Creative software.
I did not meet problems in creating playlists.
It is only if not enough free memory anymore,
then not possible to create playlists.

I have Creative Zen MX. I use Creative Centrale to do the playlists and add all the musics I want to each playlist. I can see and access to all musics by PC but when I turn on mp3 I only can see that playlists exist and some of them are ampty or some where I put 12 tracks of music just appear 6.
Can anybody help me with this?
Playlists are really important for me
thanks in advance

Thank you for your answer. Smiley
Well!!! I can say I had resolved my problem in an easier way. Wink I am portuguese and in my language we use characters like these: ç ã é è, for example "Pó de estrelas" ; "Música" ; "expressão" ; "coração".... I had to tagged all tracks and write without these characters. Playlists work perfect well. I had my problem resolved but I am going to write to the creative services for they improve a solution for portuguese language.
Thank you once again all your help here. I learned a lot with your solutions.
Greetings from Portugal
(Sorry if english is not so good)

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
