Also, I wanted to thank you for this site. I was one of those people who couldn't get their Windows to recognize the Zen, so i trouble shot and was completely satisfied. Thanks again.

Ah, Finally fixed it ran clean up several times rebooting each time now lists in the creative software WMP10. All I can think of is maybe the drive became so fragmented.
Thanks for the input and Great site!

I have a Creative ZEN 2GB, and while transferring music to the player, the electricity in my house went out (where i live, Bangladesh, blackouts are very frequent and untimed). That's when the ZEN continued to show that it was synced, even though it wasnt. After a few minutes, it went into idle shutdown, since that is how i had it setup. And after it shutdown, it just never turned back on. completely unresponsive. although its not completely dead, since when i connect it to the PC, even though it shows nothing on the display, the windows sound comes on (the sound that plays when you connect something). and once when i connected it atfre that incident, it showed "windows found new hardware.....*after a while*.....ROM Recovery is installed and ready to use" (or something along those lines).....Does anybody have any idea about what i should do now?? im desperate and have nothing to lose

sounds like you are quite upset...

the sudden blackout could have damage your zen. do this
press and hold the 'back/option' button or use a paperclip to insert into a tiny hole just below the on/off switch to start in recovery mode. then do a 'clean-up' if it still doesnt improve then do a zen format while in recovery mode but it will erase all your content

thanks for coming back
thats bad, if you cannot reset it then it means the chip could be fried
if you cannot go into recovery mode, there's nothing you can do Sad

dang, that sucks.  to prevent future problems like that i would invest in some cheap UPS for backup power in the case of a blackout to buy you enough time to disconnect your hardware

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
